Summer fun at our Bocking care home

By 7th September, 2016 News Comments Off

Children with a MinionResidents and staff at the St Mary’s Court care home in Bocking made the most of summer with two successful fundraising events – a Summer Fete and a Children’s Fun Day, raising £375 for Mencap and £183 for Childline respectively.

Friends and family also attended the Summer Fete and enjoyed a tombola, traditional games such as a coconut shy and hook-a-duck, music from the Essex Pipers and Drum Band, Vocal Reflections Choir and Barber Shop Quartet with the proceeds going to Mencap.

Everyone seemed to be really enjoying themselves in the sun and New Deanery resident, Pauline Ferdinand, said:  “The fete was very good, I had a go on most of the stalls and bought myself a ring.”

Ten days later, the stunning 10 acre grounds of the care homes were filled with entertainment as a Children’s Fun Day was held for the friends and family of residents and staff, who enjoyed face painting, a bouncy castle, and a water fight.

Head of Activities Jo Crosby said:

We love offering a varied programme of activities such as these for our residents, their friends and families to enjoy.”

She added: “People are also really happy that we have raised money for such worthy causes.”

Resident Christine Webb said: “I loved to see all of the children laughing and the magician was really funny.”

Both The New Deanery and St Mary’s Court have been rated by the Care Quality Commission as ‘outstanding’ for leadership and ‘good’ in all other aspects covering care, safety, effectiveness and responsiveness.
