St Mary's Court Care Home, Braintree, Essex
Swinging along to the sounds of the 50s, residents of St Mary’s Court and neighbouring The New Deanery care homes in Bocking enjoyed a rock ‘n roll barbecue and vintage car show.
Family and friends joined in as dancers Tony and Rose Bowers, from Mr Dickie Bow’s, put on a show in the homes’ spacious 10-acre gardens. Residents and guests enjoyed entertainment from the ‘Mama Don’t Dance’ band.
The New Deanery Manager Jane Sadowski said: “It was a fantastic day and had everyone toe tapping. We all entered into the spirit of the occasion, with plenty of swinging skirts, bows and crepe soles – and some slicked-back quiffs, taking us on a trip down memory lane.
“We’re always holding lots of fun events for residents, their family and friends, and we like to invite the neighbours in from the local community, just like you would at home.”
In a recent independent survey, 100% of residents and relatives described St Mary’s Court and The New Deanery care homes as caring and professional with all residents saying that the activities provided are sufficient and varied.
Resident Grace Young, 87 added: “It’s a sheer joy to be here. You’re never too old to enjoy yourself. I love all the space and there’s so much to do, I like to have a go at all the activities.”
