A dance-off between the ‘Dancing Grannies’ and the ‘Honey G’s’ was the highlight of the Sonnet Care Homes Summer Fete in Bocking.

As the four “Grannies” and five “Honey G’s” took their final bow, they pulled off their wigs to reveal the tribute acts were made up of the homes’ directors and management team.

The management team had been practising their moves in secret for several months, and CEO Julia Clinton said: “My thanks to Cameron Whitehouse, who not only organised the choreography and music but gave up a great deal of his time teaching us the moves.”

The fete, at the New Deanery and St Mary’s Court residential care homes, entertained residents and their families, while raising £358 for the Alzheimer’s Society.

The event included entertainment by Bocking Concert Brass Band, Alan Oakley, Pygmy Hedgehogs, and Joey the Juggler, as well as numerous craft and refreshment stalls.

Jo Whitehouse, Activities Manager, said:

“The fete was a huge success, the atmosphere was buzzing and so well attended.  I would like to thank everyone who helped make this event so special. It was lovely to see so many relatives and families enjoying themselves.”
